The Joe Show: Bigger Than Ever …and Projected

Film Premiere, Saturday, Apr. 26, 7 p.m.
There are very few comics in town who are big enough to deserve the silver screen treatment. In fact, if this were Baltimore, MD, then our very own local Joe the Cabdriver (Joseph Charles McIntosh) – a local actor, playwright, director, poet, stripper, and pre-Uber cab driver -- would be the darling of all of John Waters' modern, post-Divine films.

But thanks to our ever-growing film community, Joe is getting his starring moment to shine beyond the bit parts he has played up until now on the stage and screen under the guise of the Grand Rapids filmmaking team of Daniel E. Falicki and Anthony E. Griffin.

The comic film is based on the staged show of the same name. It follows the story of a man who seeks love, a job, or a friend to bring meaning to his life, which, up until now, has been devoted to his imaginary pal, Charlie Nubbins.
And while Joe feels at home on the stage reading his poetry in a venue where a lot of beautiful women attend, there is just one problem. Many of the beautiful women who show an interest in poetry start to disappear after his performances.

This is the only screening of this film, so clear your schedule for a fun night of local filmmaking and then be prepared to stalk Joe after for what will probably be the wildest cast party you will ever crash. Keep your Obamacare medical card handy. You might need it later after the show.
