The Debate for Mayor: four vie for the one

For the first time in 12 years Grand Rapids will see a new mayor in office in 2016, But before we get to elect this person, a series of community events has been happening with all four who are seeking the citizens of Grand Rapids' votes in advance of the August 4 primary run off.

The state's second largest city, already a leader on many lists as a result of our last two mayors, Logie and Heartwell, will be the stage as GVSU welcomes all four mayoral candidates - Rosalynn Bliss, Robert Dean, John George and Willard Lee - to debate on income inequality, the environment, and various other topics.

The debate will be moderated by Patrick Center, WGVU Public Media, and Zane McMillin, Community Engagement Specialist at MLive Media Group - The Grand Rapids Press.

We all have our favorites to win, but it will mean nothing if you do not vote in the primary on August 4th.  Happy debating…and one special request? Let's keep that twitter wall a going during the debate like Wealthy Theater did for The Rapdian's lively session earlier this month. That was really fun.

Admission: Free, but you need a ticket. If you cannot gain entry, the event will be broadcast on WGVU - Friday, July 31st and Sunday, August 2nd.
