Movies in the Neighborhood Park: Christmas in Clemente Park? Why not!

Saturday, June 22, 7 - 11 p.m.
Roberto Clemente Park, 546 Rumsey St SW
We are really enjoying all the energy shifting to our city’s neighborhoods, and on Saturday at Roberto Clemente Park comes an exciting and festive community-building event.

On Saturday, Friends of Grand Rapids Parks, in collaboration with the Grand Rapids Police Department and City of Grand Rapids Parks & Recreation Department, present Movies in the Neighborhood Park and will be showing a free pop-up screening of the animated film “The Grinch” in this much-beloved Westside neighborhood park.

Now if you are scratching your head about an outdoor screening of the holiday film “The Grinch” in June, just remember summer is about letting go of your cares. Besides, we think the kids will be alright with this selection.

Adding to the spirit of giving, popcorn will be provided by Celebration Cinema. Organizers promise there will be water as well to quench your thirst.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and your picnic basket of goodies to share with your family and friends. But please note: unlike some of the downtown movie events, no alcoholic beverages are allowed at this event.

Here is a rough outline of the event:

7:00 p.m. - Recreational activities like yard games, dancing, and a musical entertainment program begin.
9:00 p.m. - “The Grinch” starts (at dusk.)

This new series of Movies in the Neighborhood Park is generously supported by AT&T, Celebration Cinema, Community Media Center, the City of Grand Rapids, Downtown Grand Rapids Inc., Grand Rapids Public Schools, Lake Michigan Credit Union, Martha's Vineyard, and Rockford Construction.
