Roller Derby: Chicago Comes Calling

Saturday, Mar. 22, 5 p.m. doors, 6 p.m. match
For their third home game of 2014, the Grand Raggidy Roller Girls are about to welcome one of the top teams in the world to our city when they face the Chicago Outfit's Shade Brigade in this weekend's double header.

For this match, the Girls are eager to get a win under their belt because of the prestige such a win over Chicago would surely deliver for our local team, whose members broke into the world Top 40 ranking (out of more than 200+ international league teams) in the 2012-2013 season.

"I feel great about how the Attack is skating. The skaters on Attack never give up, they continue to skate their hardest until the last whistle, and they have fun while doing it, win or lose," says Attack Captain Bashin Robyns, who team is stepping up their practice sessions in the weeks leading up to this match. "Right now, we are focusing on working as a team on the track and strategies to combat power jams."

The possibility of a win for our local Girls comes on the wheels of last month's big win against South Bend.

The headline game of the night will be the WFTDA's Division 2 duel-to-the-end reunion of the Grand Raggidy Roller Girls All Star team against the Chicago Outfit's Syndicate.

In between the newly invigorated, family-friendly, and always female-empowered sports programming, the evening will feature half-time entertainment with music from Acme Black Tigers.
