In October of this year, G-Sync Events ventured to cover just one ArtPrize event/entry, the Super Happy Funtime Burlesque's (SHFB) ArtPrize: The Musical.
While it might seem like I was stacking the deck, I knew even with a mad following of fans here in town and around the country, they would not have a chance to win, so no harm no foul…until they started to track with voters on the short list of things to see at the popular fall event.
After a year of going in and out of this city as SHFB toured all over, the occasion of a holiday party seemed like the perfect opportunity for us to come together again and celebrate the spirit of the holidays at the Pyramid Scheme with a night of burlesque, circus antics, marvelous stunts, comedy, and a live band conducted by master ringleader Corey Eno Ruffin.
When I asked what we could expect when the troupe arrives back in Grand Rapids to mount the stage after being on the road (and at Holland's Park Theatre on Friday night, 12/19) his reply was so filthy and disgusting that I even blushed at what I knew I could not print here.
But as they say, "bad quote, badass show." Well, at least that is what I say when I'm dealing with SHFB.
This show is going to place Ruffin definitely on the naughty list this year…and that's a good thing for us saintly voyeurs who line up to buy those tickets. Limited VIP seating, so pony up fast.
