The Market: Artists take over for one day only

This Saturday, more than 60 art studios and vendors (including names like Paschka Studio, Dinderbeck, Picardo Colors, Nikki Mac, The DAAC, Think in Ink and Funamals) will participate in this day-long event with an expanded footprint and extended hours.

The event’s footprint spans south of Fulton down Division Ave. to Cherry Street. Even the music lineup has expanded, with nearly 15 acts and DJs gracing the stage at 106 S. Division. Acts include DJ Colin Clive, Karisa Wilson, Wazobia, Atomic Hoop Troupe, Pistolbrides, Redwood and one of my favorite newer local acts, Bearcat.

For event producer and Dwelling Place employee Jenn Schaub, the event is only one day this year as kind of an experiment to infuse more energy into one day.

“So if people don’t make it a must-do on Saturday,” says Schaub, “they will miss out on some of our awesome vendors who are a part of this exciting one-day event.”

If you are in the market for a new work of art or a unique gift item for a friend or family member, don't delay It is not unusual for someone to fall head over heels in love with an item that has been handcrafted right here in our city. The trick is not to let these often one-of-a kind-items slip through your fingers.

Last year’s event was rained out, so a rain day of June 16 has been selected in case they have to move it due to inclement weather.
