Westside Outside: Do some good, make new friends, too.

Saturday, Apr. 13, 9 a.m. (check-in)
The 2018 Westside Cleanup saw more than 600 volunteers come out for this annual community-building project spearheaded by the local Westside Collaborative’s Jim Davis. And this year’s event is even bigger than ever as our neighborhood-focused westside nonprofit works with the John Ball Zoo, Blandford Nature Center, and Friends of Grand Rapids Parks to greatly expand this annual Westside Outside neighborhood clean-up event.

Folks looking to contribute to this annual clean up effort are encouraged to sign up at westsidecollaborative.org/westsideoutside.

Pre-registering enables organizers to match volunteers with an outdoor activity that appeals to them most, thus transferring to every Westside Cleanup volunteer a chance to be matched with a specific area of the Westside neighborhoods they would most like to clean.

The full list of volunteer opportunities is almost finalized with access to tree-planting classes, sidewalk and street/alley cleanup instructions, accessibility ramp construction, park beautification, field seeding, mural maintenance, and so much more on deck for this year’s event.

This revamped and updated neighborhood event is possible through a partnership with Grand Rapids Public Schools, West Grand Neighborhood Organization, John Ball Area Neighbors, Roosevelt Park Neighborhood Association, Habitat for Humanity Kent County, YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids, Mitten Foundation, The Other Way Ministries, Campus Ministry@GVSU, the GVSU Community Service Learning Center, West Michigan Center for Arts and Technologies, the Hispanic Center of West Michigan, Kent School Services Network, Grand Rapids Public Library, West Michigan Asian American Association, NexTech High School, Trinity Reformed Church, the Bridge Street Market, El Granjero, Rockford Construction, and so many more community-focused brands and organizations in our city.
