Improving quality of stormwater runoff is focus of GVSU study of Spring Lake area

An ongoing study of the affects of contaminated stormwater runoff in the Spring Lake watershed could help researchers improve water quality for residents.

According to excerpts from the story:

Scientists from Grand Valley State University want to hear from Spring Lake-area residents about common residential activities — such as lawn-mowing times, disposal of grass clippings, where soapy war flows during a home car wash and pet walking.

The questions are part of an online water quality survey open to residents of Spring Lake and surrounding areas. The survey is part of a multidisciplinary research project led by Alan Steinman, director of the GVSU Annis Water Resources Institute, who is investigating ways to reduce stormwater runoff in the Spring Lake watershed.
