Saugatuck brewing adds $1M, 10,000-square-foot banquet facility

One entrepreneur's dream to create a banquet and entertainment venue along the lakeshore has finally become reality. Live music, a microbrewery and space to seat hundreds could be the right recipe.

According to excerpts from the story:

SAUGATUCK TOWNSHIP -- After two years and $1 million in construction, the final phase of Barry Johnson's dream for the Saugatuck Brewing Company Inc. is becoming reality. On Friday, the brewery is expected to open its new 10,000-square-foot Bier Hall, a banquet and entertainment facility with capacity for up to 360 people.

"Now, it's complete. We have the Saugatuck Brewery, the Lucky Stone Pub and the Bier Hall all open under one roof," said Johnson, the company's president and founder who relocated the brewery to a 25,000-square-foot building at 2948 Blue Star Highway last summer. He plans to have the Bier Hall available for weddings and other events, including concerts.

"Saugatuck is a wedding destination in the summer and there are only a few places to hold a large reception. And now there is one more," Johnson said.
