EGR schools complete district-wide renovations in time for students’ return

A whirlwind of construction activity has been happening across the East Grand Rapids school district as crews wrap up major and minor renovation projects, including new classrooms, updated gyms, new technology, and more. A $12.8 million bond proposal is on the November ballot to underwrite costs of athletic facilities improvements.

East Grand Rapids students will come back to renovated schools in September including updated gymnasiums, upgraded technology, and expanded space.

Construction crews numbering as many as 100 workers at a time district wide continue to work at the district buildings, aiming for most of this year's work to be completed by the end of summer break.

The district is completing the majority of the work to be funded by the $19 million bond passed in May 2006 now, and will wrap it up next summer, said Superintendent of Business Kevin Philipps.
