Grand Rapids Community Foundation will purchase historic 'Ice House'

Citing a commitment to downtown Grand Rapids and smart land use, one major player in the local philanthropic world is ready to put down permanent roots in Center City. Those roots will grow with the help of a $1 million lead gift and expected tax credits on the renovation of a historic building.

After awarding grants to support capital projects throughout Kent County for 85 years, the Grand Rapids Community Foundation is completing plans to purchase a building that will be a permanent home to the philanthropic organization.

The building, known as the “Icehouse” is located at 72 Grandville Avenue SW in downtown Grand Rapids.
