A $10 million dollar expansion will help this Grand Rapids aerospace manufacturer keep abreast of demand for lighter, fuel efficient aircraft, but the real key to keeping up with the growing market is innovative design and skilled workers.

Rising fuel costs are boosting sales for western Michigan aerospace manufacturers.
"They're looking for lighter, more-efficient engines that produce less emissions," said Jeff Simpkins, human resourses director for Precision Aerospace Corp., in Grand Rapids. "That drives creation of new engines, new products and demand for more components."
Not only new engines but a whole generation of new planes are moving from design to manufacturing, he added. Those require new types of parts and many more of them, he said.
