Family real estate business reaps 300 percent growth despite challenging economy

While real estate businesses nationwide struggle to make sales, one family-owned Grand Rapids company logged some 300 percent growth through residential property management. Making upgrades to formerly vacant homes could help some neighborhoods struggling with foreclosure.

According to excerpts from the story:

"Well, we started in 2000 as a rental company. I have nine brothers and sisters and my dad wanted to start something that involved the whole family so we started Beckett Family Rentals and in the past 9 years we've been buying properties and fixing them up," says Josh Beckett, vice president and co-owner. "We all help, work on them, fix them up and rent them out. You know rather than hiring contractors and every thing we could do a lot more affordable with all of us doing it."
