Belknap residents call for better bridges

For residents of Belknap Lookout, which overlooks the Michigan Street Hill and downtown, bridges can make all the difference in the world.

That is what they plan to tell state highway officials today when they discuss how to rebuild overpasses spanning Int. 196 and North Division Avenue over the next several years.

"We want to make sure that, when they make improvements, that they promote walkability and accessibility," said Kristi DeKraker, executive director of the Neighbors of Belknap Lookout.
