New school superintendent greets residents, promotes schools

"We signed up families today," a smiling Taylor said at a post-walk open house at Wealthy Street Bakery. "It was so energizing. All we needed to do was knock on their door and say 'We want to serve you. We think it is a privilege to educate your children.'"

Dressed in a Grand Rapids Public Schools cap and T-shirt, white pants and sneakers, Taylor chatted with families about the preschool program starting in the fall, along with other services to be offered at the $11 million, K-8 school.
