In an effort to conserve finances and preserve a former elementary school building, Ferrysburg’s city council approved a proposal for a cost estimate and architectural renderings of what could be its new city hall.

The plans — presented by onemarket development's Suzanne Rudnitzki on Monday night — include a mixture of new construction and maintaining portions of the former Ferrysburg Elementary School building.
The plans by Hooker-DeJong architects and engineers includes building a city hall on the front part of the property while keeping the school's gym intact. The plan came after Rudnitzki and the architects toured the facility, she said. Community Mental Health has leased part of the property and transformed it into available space.
