Grand Rapids has become a magnet for higher education institutions, attracting satellite facilities from inside and outside the state. The latest education center makes it easier for West Michigan residents to earn a degree from Central Michigan University.

Central Michigan University is making it easier for west Michigan residents to earn a degree from the university by opening a new center in Grand Rapids.
"It will offer both online and on-campus classes," CMU spokeswoman Heather Smith said.
She said the center will also be a place where students who are taking on-line classes can get face-to-face help.
Smith said the new center will offer updated classrooms, a computer lab with state-of-the-art connectivity and a lounge area for students to study.
