Monroe Center's ugly duckling is about to get a mod new set of clothes -- and, a developer hopes, a building full of new tenants.
The former Central Bank office, 65 Monroe Center, is to be converted to five residential condominiums by Grand Rapids' Virgin Soil Development, which is buying the property from Rockford Development.
As part of the $2 million building overhaul, Virgin Soil owner Brice Bossardet plans to add one floor to the building and reskin it with modern materials that pay homage to the building's previous Art Deco-style.
