According to excerpts from the story:
The East Grand Rapids Schools Foundation recently announced spring grants that will spread nearly $28,000 in funds across the district for school needs in science, reading, music and mass media.
The foundation annually grants money to projects in the spring and fall, with funding coming from its $1 million endowment.
The foundation is coming close to meeting its goal to double its endowment to $2 million. In a year or two the foundation should be able to significantly increase the total amount granted, she said, and the goal is to be able to fund $100,000 to $120,000 in grants per year by 2011.
