It's a streetcar they desire.
At last Thursday's meeting, the GT2 (Great Transit, Grand Tomorrows) task force recommended a streetcar for downtown Grand Rapids, and a rapid transit route be developed for Division Avenue from downtown Grand Rapids south to 60th Street. That recommendation will come before the Interurban Transit Partnership (ITP) board on Jan. 24.
The resolutions pave the way for feasibility studies to be commissioned, and the Division Avenue proposal should be ready for submission to the federal government by June or July, according to board chair Carol Sheets, who is also Wyoming's mayor.
