Grand Haven approves economic development contract

A new three-year contract looks to the future as the Chamber of Commerce agrees to act as an economic development corporation for several lakeshore towns with a goal to attract and retain businesses and pursue grant monies for municipal projects.

According to excerpts from the story:

Grand Haven City Council unanimously approved a new contract with the local Chamber of Commerce to continue providing economic development services for the city through September 2010.

"Through this contract, we are able to provide a full range of economic development services including retention, expansion, attraction efforts; grant writing; economic development job training grant writing and administration; redevelopment efforts and expertise; business counseling; business planning; financial packaging; and additional services that businesses may require," Chamber President Joy Gaasch said in a Sept. 28 memo.
