Lake Superior is at its all-time low, but after Michigan's governor's emphatic "No" to a proposal to ship Great Lakes Water to water-deprived western states, the biggest of the lakes is safe…at least for a while. Presidential hopefuls and other politicians out west are looking at the Great Lakes as prime sources for a proposed national water policy.

Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm doesn't think much of a proposal to take water from the Great Lakes to send West. In fact, when asked about the plan floated by New Mexico Governor and Presidential Candidate Bill Richardson, Granholm said, “Hell No. That's my response."
Richardson supports a national water policy. That could mean pulling water for other states, from the Great Lakes.
