Hudsonville banks on booze ban repeal to spur economic growth downtown

Last Tuesday, Hudsonville voters repealed the 125-year ban on the sale of booze in the city, and business leaders are predicting alcohol sales will be one more component toward revitalizing the downtown. After two defeats, a majority of business owners requested the issue be put to another vote.

"It would help to make downtown Hudsonville a destination."

Mayor Don VanDoeselaar says breaking with tradition to allow the sale of alcohol is one way to revitalize the community.
