With an influx of highly specialized physicians in the area, Holland Hospital is growing. But not so fast that it loses sight of its mission. Significant increases in patient visits over the last several years prompted the expansion, which positions the hospital to care for increased patient needs well into the future.
According to excerpts from the story:
Completion of a $45 million, three-year expansion positions Holland Hospital to meet growing patient volume in the years ahead and add clinical services as needed.
Driving the expansion is continued volume growth and the migration of clinical services into the Holland area by specialty physicians, such as renal, nephrology and cardiology groups that grew into the markets.
What the expansion won't do is move Holland away from its traditional role as an acute-care hospital. While Holland can respond better to market demands and add medical services when needed, it is not aiming for a large focus on specialized care that competes with larger tertiary-care hospitals in Grand Rapids.
