Hortech Inc. has received a $300,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to market its new LiveRoof, a modular roof system made up of 1-by-2-foot sections of plant life.
While there are other suppliers of "green" roofs, Hortech delivers a system with plants already grown and in place when installed.
The firm's first roofs will be installed atop condominiums at the new Edison Landing in Muskegon.
