Kendall grad wins design competition

Grand Rapids designer and Kendall graduate Joey Ruiter beat out 400 contestants to win the Hotseat 2 design contest. His winning chair design will be featured at NeoCon in June.

According to excerpts from the story:

One of West Michigan's hottest office-furniture designers, Ruiter also savors simple designs. "When a product is designed with a few lines, you know you have something," he said.

The winning chair design is shaped like a cube with a flexible seat made from mesh covered in leather. It's designed for a range of uses, including lounges, team spaces and reception areas.
