Klingman's Furniture could relocate from suburbs to abandoned west side factory

With a strong desire to keep the century-old Klingman's Furniture company in Grand Rapids, the new owner has a list of three possible sites to relocate the store, including a downtown location. But, topping the list is an abandoned game warehouse on the west side.

According to excerpts from the story:

The former Drueke Co. game factory will be renovated with or without Klingman Furniture Co. in it, new company owner Bob Israels said Monday.

The vacant factory at 601 Third St. NW is Israels' top choice to locate the 112-year-old company.

But there are two other possible locations -- one a ready-to-move-in downtown location and another on the Southeast Side that would require building a new facility, he said.
