One East Grand Rapids non-profit makes it their mission to spread the wealth by relocating trees, shrubs, and plants to areas that need landscaping or a bit of cheer. During one recent project, an elementary school and a playground equipped for handicapped children were the beneficiaries of thousands of dollars worth of landscaping goodwill.

When Metro Health Hospital moved to its new Wyoming location, many trees, shrubs and perennials were left at the old site in need of a new home.
The Giving Gardens, a non-profit organization in East Grand Rapids, works to transfer plants and trees from areas of abundance to areas in need.
Jarrad Pitts, manager of property and construction for Metro Heath approached Margaux Drake, founder of the Giving Gardens, offering to donate all of the hardscape and landscape on the site to her mission.
"We saved 45 of 62 healthy moveable trees," Drake said.
