Lakeshore puppies invited to weekly play date at Grand Haven dog shop

Dog lovers can experience a slice of puppy heaven in Grand Haven where young pups gather every week to burn off steam. And it seems that the outings are as popular with the dogs as they are with their humans.

According to excerpts from the story:

Puppies take over a downtown Grand Haven store for their own party one night each week.

Must Love Dogs, 211 Washington Ave., holds a Puppy Social Hour from 7-8 p.m. Tuesdays. The dogs must be at least 3 months old, because by then they've had their vaccinations. The maximum age is 1 year, and the dogs also must be under 30 pounds.

The store's owner, Tonya Christiansen, said the gatherings are fun for the pet owners and very important for the pups to learn to interact with other young dogs. "It's really important that puppies get to socialize at that age," she said. "We've been doing it for about a year and a half. We just let them off leash and they run around and they play," Christiansen said. "It's so simple, but it's so important. Puppies need to be exposed to puppies they're not familiar with."
