Developer breaks ground on downtown’s tallest building

Developers are breaking ground on the second tower at Bridgewater Place in Grand Rapids, 13 years after the completion of the first tower. After its completion, the tower will stand more than 30 stories, making it the tallest building in Grand Rapids.

Developer Robert Grooters says he waited until about half the condos had sold to start construction. Prices were originally offered at $170,000, but the remaining units are now priced at more than $200,000. Tower 2 at Bridgewater Place will take two years to complete.
