According

"We learned
a lot about the property. We learned a lot about interest in the property. We
learned a lot about three particular developers who expressed interest bidding
on the property," Deputy City Manager Eric DeLong told City Commissioners
Tuesday.
But the
committee didn't learn enough to feel comfortable selling a large piece of
taxpayer-owned property to any of the three developers. At least right now.
"If,
for instance, we open it up again, then all of the sudden some local entity
shows up with a great proposal. The people are going to think we played
favorites," said Second Ward Commissioner Rick Tormala.
