Innovative 'Sensory Trail' allows disabled to experience the outdoors

People with disabilities that prevent them from experiencing a nature trail can now enjoy West Michigan's great outdoors on the new Sensory Trail. The trail winds through woods and wetlands to special sensory education areas featuring interpretive objects that help visitors connect with the surroundings.

According to excerpts from the story:

A dedication celebration set for 4 p.m. Thursday will feature the opening of the new Sensory Trail at the Outdoor Discovery Center, A-4214 56th St. For many people who have a disability preventing them from fully experiencing a typical nature trail, the Sensory Trail will be a place where they can access and participate in the experience of a nature trail.

The trail is the first of its kind in West Michigan.
