Young people don’t hang out or shop in a place they don’t like, and this lakeshore village is determined to be the place young people love. A group of university marketing students studied the area and made recommendations to the village council.
According to excerpts from the story:
SPRING LAKE — If Village Council follows the advice of Grand Valley State University advertising and public relations students, the village could become a flagship of visibility and a hip place to be.
Led by Tim Penning, a GVSU School of Communications professor and a Spring Lake Township resident, five students presented a full-blown advertising campaign to Village Council and the village's Central Business District Development Authority on Thursday night at Old Boys Brewhouse.
The students spent the last semester studying "branding" options to make the village more visible and vibrant.
