Plans to redevelop the former Steelcase campus on Eastern Avenue between 36th Street and 44th Street have changed but are still moving forward.
Following a study of current market conditions, officials from Ashley Capital decided to change the direction of their redevelopment plans. The New York-based company that specializes in real estate development acquisition and property management, has a purchase agreement for the 206-acre site. In 2005, Steelcase announced its plans to close several of its facilities on the property.
Originally, Ashley Capital proposed a mixed-use redevelopment plan that included about 4 million square feet of industrial development.
