Healthcare is St. Mary's focus for neighborhood

When Phil McCorkle took over as president and CEO of Saint Mary’s Health Care in 2000 he helped the organization establish a new direction through intensive strategic planning.

All of that planning has resulted in a recent construction boom for Saint Mary’s that includes a new southwest campus, the beginning of work for the Hauenstein Center for neurosciences and a plan to work with neighbors to build up and beautify the area surrounding the main hospital.

Although Saint Mary’s downtown campus is a bit land-locked, the purchase of four acres from Erdman’s Printing spurred hospital officials into thinking about what the downtown campus should look like.
