A program that helps low-income high school students prepare for college has been funded at two area colleges by US Department of Education grants. The programs assist students who are the first in their families to attend college.
According to excerpts from the story:
Hope College and Grand Valley State University will receive more than $750,000 combined from the U.S. Department of Education for their Upward Bound programs.
Upward Bound is a college-prep program that targets low-income students who are often the first in their families to attend college.
GVSU received a $400,028 grant, and Hope College received $367,108.
