Wyoming has joined the race among municipalities across the country to attract young professionals and ensure the city’s future. A strategic planning process, already begun, could tip the scales in West Michigan’s favor.

WYOMING -- A vision for the future is coming into focus: A more walkable city with expanded public transportation, and some mixed-use development along major streets with retail shops and second-floor apartments. Of course, if a big-box retail store wants to move in at the site of the closed Studio 28 movie theater, all that's out the window.
"If Super Wal-Mart comes, yeah, we're probably going to grab it," said Chris Weller, city planning commissioner. "With the economy the way it is, what can you do? It's going to be tough."
