Proposed improvements to Zeeland's downtown hold promise for bringing
vibrancy to the growing business district. Ideas for connecting
walkable areas and landscaping green spaces generated excitement with
business owners.
According to excerpts from the story:
ZEELAND -- Christy and Ken Boeve have
lived in the Zeeland area all their lives. But they've taken an
increased interest in the city's downtown since moving into their
Centennial Street home two years ago. They envision a future downtown
that includes restaurants that are open nights, parks with live music
and a variety of shops.
That's why they're excited about a
long-range vision for the area that was presented by two consulting
firms hired by the city last fall for $30,000.
"In
this economy, it is tough to get people excited and behind something
like this," Christy Boeve said. "As residents of downtown Zeeland,
we're thrilled that something is happening."
