Downtown Zeeland considers plan to generate vibrancy, bring more retail

ZEELAND -- Christy and Ken Boeve have lived in the Zeeland area all their lives. But they've taken an increased interest in the city's downtown since moving into their Centennial Street home two years ago. They envision a future downtown that includes restaurants that are open nights, parks with live music and a variety of shops.

That's why they're excited about a long-range vision for the area that was presented by two consulting firms hired by the city last fall for $30,000.

"In this economy, it is tough to get people excited and behind something like this," Christy Boeve said. "As residents of downtown Zeeland, we're thrilled that something is happening."
