Zeeland Township board members voted 6 to 1 last week to apply for a $270,000 state grant to help fund improvements to Drenthe Grove Park.
The board is seeking the Michigan Department of Natural Resources grant, which will provide 50 percent of the total $540,000 needed for the project.
Proposed plans to the park, located on 13 acres at 68th Avenue and Adams Street, include constructing a second tennis court, basketball court, soccer field, multipurpose ball field, a fishing pond, walkways, additional landscaping, and expanding the parking lot.
