ArtPrize 2011 Sampler

You still have time to check out all the venues and work in ArtPrize this year. Like last year and the year before, we've decided to share some of the work that caught our attention in this year's contest through photographs.

You'll notice that we did not include voting numbers or artists' names in our slideshow, just the venue. Not to take credit away from the artist, but so that you will seek out the venues personally and not live vicariously through or judge the pieces too much through our slideshow.

Be sure to read the artist's statements when you see the work in person. It helps you visualize the artist's inspiration, intent, why he or she works in that medium and how it and materials (many times) relate to the piece. Like years past, you do have to sift through a lot of chaff to get to the wheat, but it's worth a little bit of time invested.
