Big Bang Art Show and Sale: You better believe I believe

Saturday & Sunday, August 22 & 23, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
I have a love-hate relationship with the Big Bang. And my views are so much more than just a theory after all these years.

First, I love that Big Bang features so many wonderful local artists, many of whom are still largely unnoticed in our community. Whether you are seeking a colorful outsider artwork, a Heartside Gallery artist's honest and breathtaking raw piece, or a natural-based 3-D living creation like the globe works by Marianne Gardner, Big Bang is the place to discover fresh new worlds on canvas, glass, and sometimes leather. When I say they have something for everyone, that is because of the diverse offerings here.

Big Bang is artists welcoming other artists – but, sadly, this is where the "hate" enters (though it should not stop you from attending). My concern each year is how many in our city miss this event because the promotion of the Big Bang is so anemic. I mean the name is Big Bang, so be loud, right?

So in an attempt to correct this cycle for future generations of artists and art lovers of our city, I am asking our readers to consider helping promote this wonderful event held in the heart of East Hills. (And if you are a PR firm with some extra pro-bono time on your hand, toss them some love as well.)

I believe in the Big Bang. It is so much more than just a theory.
