Bravo Attila!: Grand Rapids' First Gentleman of Dance Retires

It is no secret to anyone who has followed any of the dancers of our region that their lives are full of aggressive training and devotion to the pursuit of excellence on the par of any athlete. It is simply hard work and a reason many dancers burn out after years of strenuous study of their art.

Attila Mosolygo, one of the members of the Grand Rapids Ballet Company (GRBC), Michigan’s only professional ballet troupe, will be departing the stage after 16 years of enticing the hearts of those dance patrons who have taken the opportunity to see his mastery on stage. He is nothing short of inspiring to those of his company, but also to this city.

This ballet star relocated to our city more than 16 years ago after spending years with the National Ballet Institute in Budapest and with Chicago’s world-renowned Joffrey Ballet School.

To commemorate the start of Attila’s last season, which will include a Fall and holiday program devoted to the classics and a thrilling and artistically challenging new Spring season of contemporary works, the GRBC invites dance fans to attend this special one-night-only program, Bravo Attila! -- a celebration of the dancer who has been an inspiration to us all.

“We are especially thrilled to present a dance program of hand-selected works that showcase Attila’s prowess as a dancer,” says GRBC’s Managing Director, Glenn Del Vecchio. “This is a great way to honor a dancer who made his living here, enthralled audiences and inspired a generation of young dancers. 'Bravo Attila' allows the public a chance to shake his hand and congratulate him on the great roles he has performed at the GRBC before he retires from the stage.”

While Attila will no longer dance with the company, he will assume expanded duties with the Junior Company at the GRBC as the full-time Artistic Director.

Admission: $65.
