What's not to love about an event where a bunch of people run through the streets in the hopes of avoiding (or feigning that they are avoiding) being beaten by our very own Grand Raggidy Roller Girls. The girls were recently bumped up to the A league and will be competing in the same semi-finals as New York, Chicago, and London! (Congrats!)
Participants in the Running of the Bulls will dash for their lives as our Roller Girls chase the participants from bar to bar. At each bar will be a set of optional challenges. Those who are up for the gaming aspects of this event will be able to collect points at each stop.
At the end of the event (approximately 3 p.m.) at Grand Rapids Brewing Company, the grand prizewinners will be announced and special awards will be handed out for best individual and group costumes.
And what a kinky lot these folks can be, says Lucy Morals, #77.
"We actually had people last year begging us to use harder bats. They didn't like the pool noodles we used, so we may want to bring something that might sting a little more," says Morals. "Maybe some plastic bats added this year will do the trick."
Due to construction at Founders Brewing Company, this year's event registration and starting point will be at HopCat on Ionia Avenue.
The event is free to run, but for $15, you get a runner T-Shirt & wristband to access drink specials.
