Circle Celebrates: 10 Years of Really Golden

Raise your hand if you can recall the tiny performance space that Community Circle Theatre used to inhabit in John Ball Park. Keep them raised if you recall when they did not have air conditioning. Yes, it has been a long time since they were in that intimate space.

When Circle moved 10 years ago, many feared that closeness would be lost. But as we look back over the last decade in their home at the Aquinas College Performing Arts Center -- a thoroughly modern theatrical venue perfect in every way for staged musicals and plays – we see that is far from the truth.

This Friday and Saturday, many of your favorite performers are heading back to the stage for an extravaganza of song and dance for Circle Celebrates, a 10-year anniversary program.

The evening will be kicked off with hors d'oeuvres and cocktails compliments of West Michigan Caterer, followed by a program hosted by Greg Rogers and Jason Stamp.

Over the course of the evening, you can expect to be entertained by selections from past Circle musicals featuring original cast members. These include Ain’t Misbehavin’, Annie, Beehive, Cabaret, The Full Monty, Guys & Dolls, How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Little Shop of Horrors, Pippin, Nine, Rent, Smokey Joe’s Café, and The Who’s Tommy.

Best of all, there will be a sneak peek of a few of the performances heading to the stage this summer, including selections from The Marvelous Wonderettes: Caps & Gowns, Sweeney Todd, and a full ensemble cast performance from season opener The Wedding Singer.

"I can't believe that we have been in the new space for 10 years. It seems like just yesterday that we moved over here," says Community Circle Theatre's Managing Director Lynne Brown-Tepper. "Although our old performance space at John Ball Park will always hold a very special place in our hearts, we feel very lucky to have the opportunity to perform in this beautiful performing arts center on this exceptionally beautiful campus. This new space allows us to tell exquisite stories -- old and new -- in a way that we were never able to in the old space."

It is rare that one gets to see this many show stopping numbers in one location. It is truly a once-in-a-decade treat.
