City Lights Music Festival: Big City, Bigger Beats

Friday, July 19, 5 p.m. to Midnight & Saturday, July 20
This weekend is the perfect time to lose yourself to dance. And what better venue than a music festival held under the golden, summer sun and a bright, shiny moon, next to a giant, red sculpture.

When you consider your options this weekend, the most "hoppening" place in the city will be Calder Plaza where a sea of happy people will gather for the return of the City Lights Music Festival -- our budding electronic music festival that is starting to turn heads.

2012 was a transformative year, but 2013 plans to be even bigger with more acts and more amenities than in the past, including the entrance, which now features a much easier system to get the people through the gates.

"We also have many surprises awaiting attendees and are excited to see their faces when they realize what we have added this year," says festival director Shannon Williams. "We have been working closely with a movie set designer as well as the Smash Brothers production team to create a unique experience."

Both the main and second stage areas will be enhanced with the addition of LED panels to provide a visual experience never seen before at City Lights.

Even the VIP ticket holders are getting an upgrade, with stylish cabanas placed on raised decking featuring stunningly rich leather furniture brought in from Chicago.

"For 2013, the programming will include for the first time a U.K. EDM artist, who was recently voted the number one performer in the world for his genre," says Williams.

Lastly, the City Lights Music Festival will focus on the power of art to impact a space. They have invited Kendall College of Art and Design and The Dare Devil Circus to round out the ticket.

Saturday will even have a kid-friendly concert segment for those under 16 years of age. See their website for details and times.

Admission: $30 - 65.
