Don Giovanni: Lust, Sex, and Eternal Damnation

Friday - Saturday, Feb. 8 & 9, 7:30 p.m.
Michigan's longest running professional opera production company, Opera Grand Rapids, presents Don Giovanni. Running the weekend before Valentine's Day, this delicious sexual romp (with a hearty moral center) is considered one of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's greatest works.

Mozart, no stranger to conflict in his own creative life as documented in books and films, has created a seducer for the ages that is still a favorite today.

Based on the character of Don Juan, a legendary (and yet fictitious) casanova of his time, Mozart has woven a lusty tale of intrigue ushered through the timeless device of deceit, the mask.

And like all operas, you can expect the lead, played by Baritone Timothy Mix, to guide us through a story fitting of the massive DeVos stage as lust, seduction, murder, swapped identities, ghosts, and finally, a shot at redemption amid the flames of our destruction take center stage.

Mix's Don Giovanni is supported through the fine talent of guest vocalists Siân Davies (Donna Anna), Sean Pannikar (Don Ottavio), Jeremy Galyon (Commendatore), and young Abigail Nims (Zerlina).

"Oh and the best part is for guests who arrive early in advance of  the 7:30 p.m. curtain," says Opera Grand Rapids Communication Director Sarah Mieras. "We will have a very special photo opportunity that you will not want to miss!"

Tickets: Starting at $21.
