Founders’ 10th Harvest Party: Off The Vine Goodness

Saturday, Oct. 12, 11 a.m. – 2 a.m.
“Harvest Party is my absolute favorite beer day of the year,” says Joey Basch, Entertainment Coordinator at Founders Brewing Company that is celebrating the 10th annual Harvest Party on Saturday, “Not only does this annual event commemorate the release of Harvest Ale, our wet-hopped ale…it’s also a true celebration of American hops!”

And according to Basch and other brewers connected to Founders, this is quite frankly going to be Harvest Ale's best year ever!

“Basically, since it took two weeks to brew enough Harvest Ale to satisfy demand, we used whatever variety of hops were being picked on that particular day, had them overnight shipped, brewed them the next, and repeated this cycle for a two-week duration,” says Head Brewer Jeremy Kosmicki. “Harvest Ale should always be consumed immediately! The fresher the better. I love Harvest Ale because fresh, wet hops right off the vine are just dripping with oils that offer amazing aromatic and flavor properties that are normally lost during the drying and pelletizing process.  It’s a phenomenon that can only be experienced once a year.”

All of the fans’ favorite and bitterest beers will be back on tap, including special cask taps all day long plus firkins and a few yet-to-be-revealed surprises.

With each paid admission you get a commemorative, limited edition Harvest Party pint glass (while supplies last) and a complimentary fill of Harvest Ale or any class one beer. (I would suggest getting the Harvest Ale!)

Live music is included with each paid admission and includes performances by The Appleseed Collective (Ann Arbor, MI), Carrie Nation and the Speakeasy (Wichita, KS), Lindsay Lou and the Flatbellys (Ann Arbor, MI) and Honky Suckle (Springfield, MO).

All of these acts have one thing in common: With one toe dipped in the bluegrass genre, you know not only will this program be cohesive but these acts will be right at home at Founders, which is also celebrating this fall the addition of their new outdoor and expanded indoor seating. You have to experience this gorgeous and relaxed new space.

“Both Lindsay Lou and the Flatbellys and Honky Suckle defy conventional description,” says Basch. “They are raucous, high-energy, and wildly entertaining. We’re really egged for this lineup, and how it came together quite organically.”

Under this new expansion, even the stage is bigger now, ensuring everyone has a pretty good view in the main beer hall.

Unlike other events at Founders, this one is not ticketed so it is first come, first served all the way. It tends to be a more chilled crowd than their street party held each June.

When they reach capacity, you will more than likely see a line form. No worries though; with event hours ranging from 11 a.m. – 2 a.m. there is sure to be some movement as the seating turns over. No one can drink safely for 15 hours!

Admission: $10 general public, $8 Mug Club Members.
