The Fixx: Is in GR (and with Alexis)

Monday, July 29, 7 p.m.
It is hard to imagine that the worshipping of all things '80s is still be advancing in our culture. But as a hefty diet of modern musical acts advance up the pop charts in tandem with big art exhibitions in bigger markets looking at the artists of this period, it was only a matter of time before those acts of this period begin to trickle into the area as well (offering something more than just a rehash of the period acts like Mega '80s).

On Monday, one such musical act -- The Fixx -- rolls into town for a Monday night concert at the Pyramid Scheme, located on Heartside's bustling Commerce Avenue.

Fans of the band (called Fixtures) will be delighted that not only will this act be performing material that spans over four decades (they formed in 1979), but they will be also entrancing the audience with hits like "Saved by Zero" and "One Thing Leads to Another." These songs helped build up that distinct London new wave sound -- guitars and synthesizers with a dance beat -- and boast lyrics sure to have everyone singing along at The Scheme.

Opening for the act will be one of Grand Rapids' favorite electro-pop bands, Alexis.

Admission: $25 advance/$28 day of show
