International Wine, Beer & Food Festival: Taste Michigan + More

Thursday, Nov. 21, 5-10 p.m., Friday, Nov. 22, 4-10 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, 12-9 p.m.
This weekend more than 17,000 food and beverage connoisseurs will descend downtown to attend the 2013 Grand Rapids International Wine, Beer & Food Festival at DeVos Place – the Midwest’s largest tasting event.

This annual three-day event celebrates its 6th year in the heart of the city and is devoted to presenting not just the fine culinary treats and beverages from Michigan but also showcasing the very best of the world in a very spacious two-acre space filled with merchants, chef-prepared small plates food stations, and plenty of cooking demonstrations.

In addition to the usual offerings will be the hard-to-secure chef high-stool dinners, including the much talked about Spinnaker pairing event with Michigan products and beers along with the perfectly-timed yet heart-stopping array of cooking demonstrations arriving just before the holiday. This year’s event will also debut a spacious new Brewer’s Loft space sponsored by the Michigan Brewer’s Guild on the 3rd floor. It will give patrons a chance to sample from the vast selection of brewers from around Michigan who will be presenting their hand-crafted beverages along side of delicious food pairings and live entertainment.

Also debuting this year is a Cider House, which will include many fine cideries from throughout Michigan side by side by nationally produced brands. I cannot think of a better time to taste test what we have here against that of the national challengers.

And lest you think this is just for the beer lover, the event also features champagne & sparkling wine flights, cordial samplings and a dessert area. In addition, the venue is packed full of those hard-to-find and uniquely Michigan products in their Riverfront Marketplace. With the holidays upon us, this is a great time to stock up on all the items you need for that next party from a true international pop-up shop unlike any other you have ever seen.

Admission:  $15 Thursday / $20 Friday or Saturday
