Carlos Miguel Prieto: Latin Spirit Returns Center Stage

Friday & Saturday, April 12 & 13, 8:00 p.m.
There is no shortage of programs available in Grand Rapids these days acknowledging or supporting the wide range of diverse faces found in our region.

On Friday and Saturday night, DeVos Performance Hall will once again put out the la bienvenida sign with a night of Latin-inspired classical works in an event simply titled Bolero. Bolero will be performed by our Grand Rapids Symphony under the baton of Carlos Miguel Prieto.

In 2012, the GRS presented their first Hispanic-focused event, Latin Fire, with great success. You could almost call Bolero, with its sweeping and slow-burning, but passionate driving score, Latin Fire La Parte Dos.

Conductor Prieto, a native of Mexico, will lead the GRS through a lively night of 20th century Mexican and Argentinian composers as well as a showcase of one of the most beloved classical scores, Maurice Ravel’s "Boléro."

You have lots of choices this weekend, but only one will get your heart rate up from just sitting in your seat. This is a classical concert with a pulse.

Admission: Starting at $18
